1st prize in housing competition organized by 'Fonds d'urbanisation et d'aménagement du Plateau de Kirchberg'
The façade material – plaster, distinguishes the building from its administrative neighbors. This material confirms the housing function of the whole. The dark finishing of the ground floor and the last floor visually reduce the massiveness of the volumetry. The façade rhythm is created with the dark aluminum window frames and their arrangements. This rhythm is yet more enhanced with the reinforcement of the windows and loggias, which towards the end of the building gives an impression of the lightness and fluidity. The railing in sand glass allow the natural sunlight, while at the same time providing the dwellers with the needed intimacy.
The shadings on the last floor provide the sun protection for the loggias. The base of the building in concrete also features a seating function, and distinguishes a private – public border.
The organization of the internal space is characterized with the service zone (WC, storage, kitchen and hall) revolving around central vertical communication. This allows clear arrangement of the living and sleeping units. The supporting structure of the building permits a free partitioning from the inside. The proposed organization, based on the day – night zones, is flexible as it accepts possible reorganization of the space, depending of the specific needs of the future users.
