The project entailed the transformation of the center of Niederkorn, a small place in the Luxembourgish community of Differdange. The goal was to redesign the public space around the central church and the cemetery, by introducing a 'meeting point' and renewing the underground system. The solution endorses a new concept, where all users become equal. This means that the notions of sidewalk and road, as we know them, are translated into one single – shared surface. While this concept deliberately provokes uncertainty, the drivers are voluntarily passing with better attention and consideration. As a result, the traffic is calm and safe, despite the lack of traffic signs and standard denivelation.
